Dear Snappers,

This week we are focusing on the two men held responsible for the long snapping this weekend in the Super Bowl. Please make sure to check out the blog from earlier this week over Joe Cardona.

(Dramatic WWE Announcer Voice)Now we are going to turn our attention to the man on the other sideline, weighing in at 244 lbs, from Cincinnati Ohio, The GingerSnap, Jacob McQuaide!

All jokes aside, Jacob McQuaide is a BEAST, with a beautiful beard to back it up. This two-time Pro-Bowler has had a great season recording a couple tackles and a whole lot of dimes while starting every game of his eighth season in the league. No doubt Hekker and Zuerlein have earned a lot of respect in the NFL, as two of the best in the league, but it all starts with McQuaide. The three of them combine for, arguably, the best fourth down unit in the league right now!

On The Field

Jacob embodies what it means to live the Long Snapper Lifestyle with his dedication to the craft and humble approach to the game. In eight years with the league he keeps improving his game and paying attention to the details of the art. He was awarded for this dedication with two consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl in 2017 and 2018.

His friends and family back home in Cincinnati will be watching him and cheering him on as he goes to add another ring to the collection. In college, the Cincinnati native worked hard to become a walk-on at Ohio State and eventually earned himself a scholarship and a starting position. At Ohio he won four Big Ten Championship rings at Ohio from 06, 07, 08, & 09. He started for three of those Big Ten Champion teams. This effort and never quit attitude led him to a free agent signing with the Rams in 2011.

McQuaide's work ethic combined with a little bit of luck has helped him to stay healthy and available for every snap since he was signed in 2011, whether it was in St. Louis or LA, he has been a reliable snapper for the Rams. A reliable long snapper is so difficult to find at that high of a level. McQuaide has everything going for him when it comes reliability and consistency.

Off The Field

McQuiade isn't a huge Instagram guy, but I had to include this video of him supporting the ALS Association and participating in the Ice Bucket Challenge. Nothing better than seeing guys get to this high of a level and still be able to have fun and support a good cause. Also, the beard just looks great at the beginning of the video.

A father, a husband, a hometown hero, and a long snapper, living the Long Snapper Lifestyle to the fullest! A man that young snappers all over the nation should know and look up to.
