Tommy Zozus

Hi, my name is Tommy Zozus and I am originally from New Jersey and grew up in Punta Gorda, FL. I began my passion playing pop warner learning by myself and soon it was time for high school. During my high school years, I was playing offensive line (freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior year), defensive end (freshman year), and long snapper (freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior year). I graduated from Charlotte High in 2017 and I was the 2017 Kornblue Kicking Long Snapper champion at the Fort Lauderdale competition. I earned FloridaHSFootball.com Class 6A Third Team Specialist as a senior and was Charlotte County District Honorable Mention.

I was not heavily recruited in high school and was rated a 5-star long snapper by Kornblue Kicking. After graduating, I had small D1 offers but they were partial scholarships which led me to do further research of different schools. I came across FIU and was drawn to the program. I applied and was accepted. I was a walk-on for two years and shortly after got put on a full scholarship at FIU. 

FIU Impact/Experiences

2018: Appeared in all 13 games at long snapper... Helped the FIU special teams unit become one of the most productive in Conference USA... Assisted in breaking a school record by successfully executing a 53-yard field goal against Middle Tennessee (10/13)... Zozus was named to the Conference USA Honorable Mention Team following the season.

2019: Played in all 13 games as FIU's long snapper... Assisted in tying a school record by successfully executing a 53-yard field goal in the win over Miami (11/23).

2020: Served as FIU's long snapper in all five games in 2020... Named to the C-USA Honorable Mention Team... Earned his first career tackle against Middle Tennessee (10/10)... Helped punter Tommy Heatherly earn a career-long punt of 69 yards against FAU (11/13)... Had no botched snaps or blocked punts/kicks on the year.

I've been fortunate to have this opportunity to pass on my experiences and knowledge to different generations of long snappers.
